Alex Lowes out of Aragon WorldSBK round, Florian Marino to replace

Alex Lowes will miss this weekend's tenth round of the 2023 WorldSBK Championship at Motorland Aragon after undergoing surgery on his injured knee.
The Kawasaki Racing Team rider took the decision following the most recent Magny-Cours WorldSBK round to undergo surgery on his knee to remove damaged meniscus having already opted to skip part of the French event.
As a result, Lowes won't be present in Spain for the upcoming Alcaniz event but is confident he will be back on track for the following round in Portimao the immediate weekend after.
"After Magny-Cours, I took the tough decision to go to Barcelona to have surgery on my knee. The operation went well. Since then, I have been fully focused on my recovery and working as hard as possible. Physically, I feel good and in a position where I could ride.
"However, the team have decided the best option is to wait for Portugal next weekend. I respect their decision and switch my focus toward supporting the team, whilst improving myself in time for the next event in Portimao.
"It's a shame because I showed some strong speed in the recent Aragon test and Magny-Cours weekend. They are behind us now, and it's time to look forward and try to get on the podium again before the end of the 2023 season."
In Lowes' place aboard the factory Kawasaki ZX-10RR will be test rider and former WorldSSP podium finisher Florian Marino. It will be the Frenchman's first WorldSBK since his one and only outing on the Triple M Honda in Argentina in 2018.
