Winter is upon us, but now is the perfect time to look back at the 2024 World Superbike Championship. BSN brings you our Top 10 World Superbike Riders of the Year.

Coming in at Number Four is... Alvaro Bautista!

Alvaro Bautista won back-to-back World Superbike titles in 2022 and 2023, but the 2024 season was a difficult year for the Champion.

The 2024 World Superbike season was Alvaro Bautista's sixth year in the class after switching from MotoGP in 2019. This season was also the Spaniard's worst season with Ducati in four years with the Italian manufacturer.

Bautista was an unstoppable force in 2022 and 2023 as he won 43 races during the two seasons. It seemed like the veteran rider would win his third World Superbike title in 2024 after two dominant years.

However, it was anything but an easy year for Bautista in 2024. The Ducati rider could not match his new teammate and his old title rival from previous years.

The 2024 season marked the end of Bautista and Ducati's dominance in World Superbikes. After two years of the partnership obliterating the field the Spaniard and the Italian manufacturer lost the #1 plate.

Throughout the year Bautista won four races, 23 less than he had won in 2023. As well as his wins he had 14 other podium place finishes, with five second places and nine third places. Bautista ended the year third in the Championship standings with 357 points, 271 points less than he scored in 2023.

In 2025 Bautista has kept his faith in Ducati as he remains with the Aruba.it Racing - Ducati squad. However, at the age of 40, the two-time World Superbike Champion may not have long left to win a third Superbike title.
