Andrea Locatelli has completed his fourth year in the World Superbike Championship. However, the 2024 season also happened to be his worst year in the standings and the Championship.
The Italian arrived at the World Superbike Championship after dominating the World Supersport Championship. Andrea Locatelli became the World Supersport Champion in 2020 after winning 12 of the 15 races throughout the season.
Since getting promoted into the Pata Yamaha squad in World Superbikes Locatelli has always featured in the top five. Locatelli finished 4th, 5th and 4th in the standings in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
However, the 2024 season saw the 28-year-old end the season in seventh place in the standings.
Locatelli had four World Superbike podiums throughout the 2024 season. The Italian finished second twice in the opening round of the season in Phillip Island, his other two podiums were third places at Most and Jerez.
Yamaha could not match the likes of Ducati, BMW and Kawasaki in 2024 as they suffered a winless season. Locatelli scored 94 points less in 2024 than he did in 2023 and stood on the podium four times less in 2024 compared to last season.
Despite having a consistent first half of the season Locatelli's form dropped off after the Czech Republic Round. In the final 18 races of the season, he only featured in the top five three times compared to the eight times he featured in the top in the first 18 races.
Locatelli will remain with Pata Yamaha Prometeon WorldSBK for the 2025 World Superbike season, which is also the final year of his deal with Yamaha.
