Winter is upon us, but now is the perfect time to look back at the 2024 World Superbike Championship. BSN brings you our Top 10 World Superbike Riders of the Year.

Coming in at Number Nine is... Garrett Gerloff!

Garrett Gerloff has become a staple of the World Superbike paddock in recent years. The 2024 season saw the American rider return to the sharp end in the second half of the year.

Before Garrett Gerloff arrived in World Superbikes in 2020 there had not been a full-time American rider in the series since 2018. The American arrived at the World Championship after two promising years in MotoAmerican where he finished fifth and third with Yamaha in the Superbike class.

But the best way to describe Gerloff in World Superbikes would be, inconsistent. The 29-year-old had three up-and-down years with Yamaha before switching to BMW in 2023, which was his worst year in the series.

However, the 2024 season saw the Texan have his second-best year in World Superbikes. Gerloff returned to the top step in the Championship and found his way back onto a World Championship podium.

Gerloff had two podium finishes in the 2024 season as he finished third at Magny-Cours and MotorLand Aragon. Across the season, the Bonovo Action BMW rider scored 176 points and ended the year ninth in the Championship.

BMW came on leaps and bounds in the 2024 World Superbike season and Gerloff felt the improvements. He scored 32 more points than he did in 2023 and his podium in Magny-Cours was his first for the German manufacturer.

Despite finding form in the second half of the 2024 season Gerloff will start a new adventure in the 2025 season. He will switch back to a Japanese manufacturer as he joins Puccetti Kawasaki next year and will pilot the only Kawasaki ZX-10RR on the grid.
