Nicolo Bulega may want the same salary as his teammate, but will Ducati agree to his demands?

Recently there had been reports that Nicolo Bulega and his manager demanded more money from Ducati for his 2026 contract. The Italian rider, who originally signed a two-year deal with Ducati is entering the final year of his rookie deal.

After an impressive first year in the Superbike class, Bulega and his manager believe he deserves the same salary as his two-time World Superbike Champion teammate, Alvaro Bautista.

In an interview with GPOne the Aruba.it Racing - Ducati Team Manager, Serafino Foti, discussed Bulega's contract situation and revealed that negotiations are already underway ahead of the 2025 season.

"We are talking about it and the goal of both is to continue together," Foti stated. "Because between him and the team there is a strong harmony as well as a healthy and family environment. So we hope to reach an agreement for renewal soon."

Despite the 'hope' of a new agreement, Foti was stern on the monetary standpoint for Bulega. The Italian believes Bulega should focus more on becoming a World Champion than receiving a higher salary.

"Nicolo [Bulega] must have a value congruous with the Championship," Foti added. "If I were him, however, I would not look at what [Alvaro] Bautista, Toprak [Razgatlioglu] and [Jonathan] Rea receive.

"As in all negotiations, there are demands and counterproposals. Then there is also a limit, as there are no unlimited budgets. But in my opinion, more than the contract, he has to look at what is the best solution to become World Champion and I think it is to do with a Ducati."
