Adrian Huertas will switch from World Supersport to Moto2 for the 2025 season.

The 2024 World Supersport Championship leader, Adrian Huertas, will depart from the WorldSBK paddock at the end of the season. The Spanish rider who has spent five years in the paddock will return to the Grand Prix racing paddock.

Huertas will make the switch from WorldSSP over to Moto2 in 2025 as he joins the Italtrans Racing Team. He will follow his compatriot Manuel Gonzalez who made the same move at the end of the 2022 season.

Huertas won the World Supersport 300 Championship back in 2021 before spending two years with MTM Kawasaki in World Supersport. After finishing 12th in the Championship two years running on a Kawasaki he made the switch to Ducati for 2024.

So far this season Huertas has won eight races and stood on the podium a further three times. With only five rounds left of the World Supersport Championship Huertas has a 20-point advantage in the title race.

A statement from Aruba.it Racing WorldSSP Team said: "The collaboration between Adrian Huertas and the Aruba Racing WorldSSP team will end after the 2024 World Supersport Championship. During the current season, riding the Ducati Panigale V2, the Spanish rider, born in Parla (Madrid) on 21 August 2003, has scored 8 wins and 11 podiums, allowing him to lead the standings with 260 total points and 20 ahead of Yari Montella. The whole team would like to thank Adrian and wish him luck in his new adventure. However, there are still five rounds to go before we hug and say goodbye; for this reason, the whole team is driven to make every effort to try to get the most prestigious target at the end of this season and thus reap the benefits of the great work done together."

Huertas will be replacing Dennis Foggia inside the Italtrans Racing Team next season. The Italian currently sits 23rd in the Moto2 Championship in his second year in the Championship.

Discussing Huertas' arrival in 2025, Laura Bertulessi, Team Owner, said: "We are happy to announce the agreement with Adrian Huertas. He is a talented young rider, who has shown great determination and professionalism, which have led him to achieve excellent results in his still-short career. Our philosophy is to help and support young riders to realize their dreams. Adrian will make his debut in Moto2 with three years of experience on bikes with similar characteristics and Pirelli tires. We think this will help him to adapt quickly to a tough class like Moto2."
