Damon Hill bids farewell to Sky Sports F1 team after 13 years

Damon Hill has announced his departure from the Sky Sports F1 commentary and presenting team after a 13-year-tenure with the British broadcaster.
The 1996 F1 World Champion has shared his expert insight and views since 2012 when Sky acquired the exclusive broadcasting rights to Formula 1 for the UK.
The 64-year-old former driver, a highly respected voice within the British motorsport community, shared the news on social media on Friday.
"It's been a fantastic 13 years with Sky Sports F1 but all good things come to an end," he wrote.
"I will miss the most impressive bunch of professionals it has ever been my pleasure to have worked with. Looking forward to new challenges."
Hill's career as a commentator mirrored his remarkable racing journey, which saw him claim 22 Grand Prix victories across stints with Brabham, Williams, Arrows, and Jordan between 1992 and 1999.
Known for his insightful analysis and quick wit, Hill became a cornerstone of Sky's coverage, delivering expert commentary and sharing his perspective as a former champion.
Throughout his time at Sky, Hill was praised for his ability to break down the nuances of Formula 1 for fans while also providing entertaining anecdotes from his racing days.

Hill recently faced criticism for comments about reigning champion Max Verstappen after last month's Mexican Grand Prix.
Referring to the Red Bull driver's aggressive moves against Lando Norris, Hill called out what he saw as "daft and Dick Dastardly stuff" on the part of the Dutchman.
Hill's departure prompted an outpouring of tributes from his colleagues.
Bernie Collins, Aston Martin's former strategy engineer and a current Sky Sports contributor, shared her heartfelt thanks on social media.
"I will personally miss you immensely!" she wrote. "I've loved working with you over these past two seasons. Thank you for all the support. See you soon!"
Hill's farewell post included two nostalgic images: one with fellow driver-turned-commentator Martin Brundle, and another with Johnny Herbert, who left the Sky Sports team at the end of 2023.
Fans and colleagues alike noted the camaraderie among Sky's team and Hill's significant contributions to their broadcasts.
While Hill has not announced any specific plans for the future, his statement hinted at new endeavors on the horizon.
