The fault could cause the vehicles’ automatic high beam functions to stop working, according to the recall notice.
Lexus Australia has recalled 2963 examples of the 2019-2022 Lexus RX SUV, spanning RX300, RX350, RX350L, RX450h, and RX450hL variants, citing a potential fault with the car’s automatic high beam lights.
The affected vehicles are stamped 2019-2022 models but may have been sold at a later date.
The affected variants of the Lexus RX300, RX350 and RX450h are the F Sport and Sports Luxury trims, while the RX350L and RX450hL involved in the recall relate to the Sports Luxury variants.
The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: "Due to a manufacturing defect in the Adaptive High Beam System, cracks may develop over time resulting in the LED reflector detaching from the reflector motor inside the headlight assembly.
"If this occurs, the AHS function and automatic high beam may not operate as intended and a warning message will be displayed. A non-operational AHS/high beam system may increase the risk of an accident, resulting in injury to occupants of the vehicle and other road users.
"Vehicles are not compliant with ADR 13/00 – Installation of Lighting and Light Signalling Devices on other than L-Group Vehicles."
