2025 Kia Tasman ute reveal date confirmed

The Kia Tasman ute will be unveiled in the Middle East later this month ahead of its Australian launch in the first half of 2025.

The 2025 Kia Tasman dual-cab ute will debut in two weeks' time, the brand has confirmed.

Kia has announced the covers will be pulled off its new Tasman ute at 6:00pm Sydney and Melbourne time on 29 October, 2024, ahead of customer deliveries in Australia, the Middle East, South Africa and South Korea in the first half of 2025.

The reveal is expected to occur at the Jeddah motor show in Saudi Arabia, which runs from 29 October to 2 November.

New teaser images have exposed more of the ute ahead of its debut, revealing a large Kia logo which appears to be embossed into the tailgate, a wide Tasman badge, and the brand's 'Opposites United' design language in its LED tail-light signature.

Kia has been providing glimpses of the Tasman for months, including videos showcasing its payload and towing capabilities in the United States, wading depth testing in Korea, and off-road talents on bush tracks in Victoria and the ACT.

Much of the Tasman's development and testing has taken place in Australia, which has been identified as one of the most important markets for the vehicle.

Kia says it has completed “1777 specific tests conducted over 18,000-plus rounds of evaluation”.

Under the bonnet, the Tasman is expected to have a version of the 2.2-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine found in the Sorento SUV and Carnival people mover, where it produces 148kW and 440Nm.

However a power bump hasn't been ruled out for the Tasman to allow it to match the four-cylinder class benchmark of around 150kW and 500Nm from rivals such as the Ford Ranger, Toyota HiLux and Mitsubishi Triton.

The Kia Tasman ute is due in Australian showrooms in mid-2025.
