A special farewell for Carlos Sainz from Ferrari: father and son on track at Fiorano
Today at 09:45 AM
The final days of the 2024 season are already a preview of what we will see in 2025. The teams are busy collecting and analyzing data from the last races and post-Abu Dhabi tests. For many, this is the first return to base after the Las Vegas, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi triple header, so there’s still a significant amount of work to process. At Ferrari, alongside the technical side, there is also an emotional aspect with Carlos Sainz’s last days as a Ferrari driver, which will mark a special day for him.
Ferrari brings father and son together on track at Fiorano. A final farewell in Maranello for Sainz.
Frederic Vasseur’s team is preparing to welcome Lewis Hamilton to Maranello, kicking off a much-anticipated partnership that, based on the end of the season, will certainly see the Scuderia fight for the world title in 2025. This is the wish and thought that Carlos Sainz, about to leave Maranello for the last time, expressed in his farewell message to the team in Abu Dhabi: “You are a team ready to fight for the championship. I hope to see Charles and you as champions next year, and I'll be cheering for you from Williams,” said the emotional Spaniard in front of the entire team at Yas Marina.
However, the emotions didn't end in Abu Dhabi, as Ferrari organized a special day for the Sainz family on Tuesday; a way to give one last special day not only for their driver but also for his family. At Fiorano, the Ferrari F1-75 will take to the track with Carlos Sainz Sr, the rally legend and father of the Spaniard who has been with Ferrari in recent years, at the wheel. He will be joined by his son. This is undoubtedly a special and emotional event, as they will share a few laps on the historic Ferrari test track, followed by a visit to the factory to say goodbye to all the employees in Maranello who have worked side by side with Carlos Sainz Jr over the past four years, appreciating his feedback, professionalism, and the person he has always been highly respected and valued within the team. The news has been confirmed by F1 experts Paolo D'Alessandro and Giuliano Duchessa for autoracer.it.
These will be the final days of the 2024 season for Ferrari as well. The last working day of the year at the Scuderia is expected to be on Thursday. Frederic Vasseur will bid farewell to the men and women working at Maranello, giving them time off to spend with their families and resuming work in the new year, preparing for 2025. The time will come for the first indications on the new car, which, according to the French Team Principal, "is showing good results" in the wind tunnel, but everyone is aware that it will be an important year: Lewis Hamilton’s first in Red, the last of this generation of cars, and, of course, an important year to continue the momentum of the season just ended, where from Spa onwards, Charles Leclerc and Ferrari would have been crowned world champions after earning more points than anyone else.
