Unlike the failed aerodynamic Barcelona package, which had cut the legs out of a project that started in the best way and had resurfaced the much-feared bouncing phenomenon, the updates introduced by the Maranello technicians at the Monza circuit for the Italian Grand Prix have given new life to the SF24, with Charles Leclerc managing to snatch victory in front of the red tide despite a superior McLaren, which is undeniably the first force today.

In particular, the new floor seems to have met the expectations of Maranello’s technicians, although, as Frederic Vasseur himself admitted, the temple of speed is certainly not one of the most demanding circuits to fully test the effectiveness of an aerodynamic package.

"We had a real race with McLaren, which was nice to see, but at the same time, it’s Monza, and a very particular Monza," said a cautious Carlos Sainz, offering a first verdict on what was seen last weekend.

"We'll have to wait to see other normal tracks to understand if this update has really turned our season around and if from now on we'll be fighting for victories, or if we'll go back to what we saw at Zandvoort." – the Spanish driver explained.

"We need more tests on this new floor and to go to more normal tracks. I think the next normal track is Austin, because the upcoming ones are very particular, Baku and Singapore. Austin is a more normal circuit, and it will tell us how competitive we will be with this new floor."

With "only" 39 points behind Red Bull, and 31 from McLaren, the Spaniard believes the effectiveness of this aerodynamic package will prove decisive in the fight for the 2024 Formula 1 title from now to the end of the season: "Yes, it's decisive. Also for the constructors’, because I think we've been the team that scored the most points. This means it's a great opportunity. Not only to get more victories during the year but also to fight for the Constructors’, which I believe will be, if we manage to be fast on other tracks, on par with McLaren and Red Bull." – Carlos Sainz concluded, ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, which takes place this weekend at the Baku City Circuit.
