Scuderia Ferrari has regained correlation in Maranello, solved the bouncing on the SF-24 single-seater, and there is very good news for the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship. The problems that arose after the update introduced at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona may finally be behind them. Great news for Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, but also for Ferraru fans and enthusiasts who can hope for a final series of races fought among three teams and a championship battle between Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull.

Smiles are back in Maranello. As we mentioned before and after Monza, the factory has been working very well, continuing to thoroughly analyze the data from the Grand Prix races before the summer break. The goal of permanently eliminating the bouncing, allowing the SF-24 to unleash all the load acquired between Imola and Barcelona, may have finally been achieved.

The car performed very well both at the Zandvoort circuit in the Dutch Grand Prix and especially at the Monza circuit in the Italian Grand Prix, two tracks still not very indicative to provide a definitive answer. It will take more than a month to get the first real test, at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. Until then, however, it’s perfectly reasonable to hope, while waiting for the next package of aerodynamic updates, which will affect the front area of the SF-24 car (more details here).

In the meantime, British engineer Jock Clear wanted to explain the challenges faced by the team: “Since [bouncing] only manifests when studying a real car, it is very difficult to model. The more time spent on track, the better the correlation. I would say we are now confident we have better correlated what we see, simply because we have more data and have fine-tuned our models.”

“In the future, we expect this issue to be less and less present – Jock Clear continues – Towards the end of the year, we will again see some high downforce circuits, where the issue would have appeared at the beginning of the season, and we are confident we can do a better job in these cases.” – the English senior performance engineer concluded.
