Ferrari was mathematically in the fight to win the Constructors’ title until the last lap of the final race of the 2024 Formula One championship. Unfortunately this did not happen, but the Maranello team could have an advantage in 2025.

The championship position affects wind tunnel time availability

For several years now in Formula 1, the amount of wind tunnel time available to each team depends on their final position in the previous championship.

Specifically, the difference between the first and second place is about 7%. This may seem insignificant, but in reality, it can prove to be particularly important.

It should not be forgotten that next season, teams will also need to develop the 2026 car, which will be crucial for the next regulatory cycle.

Having more wind tunnel time should allow Ferrari, in this case, to manage both projects more (albeit relatively) calmly and with less room for error. And who knows, that 7% might make a difference in the long run…
