Ferrari on a world championship mission, Charles Leclerc: "Let's bring it back to Maranello!" – Abu Dhabi GP
Today at 02:48 PM
The last time Ferrari entered the final race of the Formula 1 season fighting for a world title was in 2012. With the Qatar scare now behind them, Charles Leclerc heads to Abu Dhabi with a single goal in mind.
As the curtain falls on Losail, F1’s spotlight turns to the grand finale at Yas Marina. In Abu Dhabi, the Constructors' World Championship will be decided, contested between leaders McLaren and Ferrari. The Scuderia faces an uphill battle, but Charles Leclerc is ready for a weekend of fighting.
The two historic teams are separated by 21 points in the standings. Bridging the gap will be a tough challenge for Ferrari, who must also rely on McLaren faltering. During the post-race press conference in Qatar, Ferrari's Monegasque driver addressed the challenge: “How competitive will we be? It’s hard to say now; we have to wait and see. On paper, Abu Dhabi should be a slightly more positive event compared to Qatar. At Losail, we were pretty fortunate. Without Lando's incident and the Safety Car, we would have been far behind on race pace.” – the Monegasque driver pointed out.
Abu Dhabi offers hope: “Let's bring the championship back to Maranello!”
But Qatar is now in the past, and Charles Leclerc moves forward: “Abu Dhabi should be better for us. I hope so, but we have to wait and see what happens. There aren't too many points between us and them…” Charles Leclerc commented optimistically.
Twenty-one points can be recovered, and the Ferrari driver rallies the team for Yas Marina: “We need to focus on ourselves and maximize everything. If we do that, we can hope to bring the championship back to Maranello!” – Charles Leclerc concluded.
