Ferrari's triumph at the Monza circuit in the Italian Grand Prix positions the Prancing Horse for a fight at the top? McLaren Team Principal Andrea Stella sees a positive aspect in Ferrari's resurgence.
As the week leading up to the Baku weekend in Azerbaijan unfolds, several questions arise: will the Papaya team be able to capitalize on their superiority once again? Will Scuderia Ferrari maintain the performance they showed at the Monza circuit? McLaren's Team Principal, Andrea Stella, revisited the Monza race, noting Ferrari's improvement ahead of the second half of the 2024 Formula One season.
Analyzing the race which took place last time out in front of the Tifosi, the Italian engineer leading McLaren first wanted to debunk a common misconception: "Regarding race performance, perhaps there's a mistaken belief that McLaren was the fastest car overall at Monza. I believe Ferrari in Italy was just as competitive as we were, at least with Charles Leclerc." – the former Ferrari track engineer pointed out.
Andrea Stella, who admitted he "wanted to make the most of the car's competitiveness," observed the resurgence of Ferrari. "It's bad news for us. [At Monza], we had to contend with them. They were smart in exploiting certain differences…" – he admitted.

Though McLaren left Monza frustrated over another pole position lost, Andrea Stella found some consolation in reflecting on a revitalized Ferrari. The head of the British team is not focused on a single race but on the bigger picture, the championship. "At the same time, it's good news. It means we have more cars that can take points away from Red Bull, which is better news for us. We need to ensure we maximize the potential available, even if it means Ferrari is a serious contender for wins." – the McLaren team boss concluded.
