Lewis Hamilton vs Max Verstappen
Lewis Hamilton speaks, and Max Verstappen responds. The seven-time Formula 1 world champion’s criticism and sarcasm toward his rival’s particularly aggressive driving style have not gone unnoticed, and the Red Bull driver indirectly responded. Not in substance, but with a certain — and, knowing the character, likely genuine — indifference to the market's biggest move. For the Dutchman, the only thing that truly matters is winning, regardless of the opponent. This is why Lewis Hamilton's move to Ferrari, bringing the possibility of a rematch of their unforgettable 2021 duel in 2025, neither surprised nor unsettled him much.
Lewis Hamilton – Ferrari, Max Verstappen’s comments
Max Verstappen himself admitted in an interview with the German newspaper Sport Bild that the arrival of the seven-time Formula 1 champion at Maranello didn't affect him: "I don't care; it didn't surprise me much. I didn't feel anything about it. The reason? I want to beat every driver and every car. Whether Lewis is in the red car or the silver one makes no difference to me. But I can understand there's been great interest in his choice to switch. It's a positive thing for Formula 1, and it will be interesting to see how he and Charles Leclerc work together on the same team." – the Dutchman explained, ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend.
Max Verstappen: a future at Ferrari?
The Red Bull driver then commented on Lewis Hamilton's statements about driving for Ferrari as the culmination of a "childhood dream," albeit now in the later stages of his career: "Me at Ferrari? I see it much more pragmatically. I want to win, so I'll always want to drive the car that gives me the best chance to do so. Right now, that car is the Red Bull. I don't secretly dream of wearing the red suit, nor do I have that thought constantly in my mind because I'm looking for new challenges, especially given that there are no seats available at the moment. But, of course, Ferrari is an incredible brand with many successes in our sport. It made sense for Lewis to seize the opportunity when it came." – the Dutchman concluded.
