Official: 2026 to be final edition of F1 Dutch GP at Zandvoort (with Sprint)

The return will have lasted six years
Last week, the Italian GP at Monza officially announced its renewal until 2031, joining the Monaco GP among the long-term contract extensions confirmed this year. However, the same cannot be said for the Dutch GP, which returned to the calendar in 2021 (initially planned for 2020, but postponed due to the pandemic).
The ‘Max Verstappen GP’ will leave the calendar after 2026. Organizers secured a one-year extension to the contract set to expire in 2025 but decided to end their involvement after 2026. That year, the Zandvoort weekend will feature a Sprint event, marking the conclusion of a six-year stint from 2021 to 2026.
Zandvoort’s exit raises hopes for the ‘survival’ of the Belgian GP at Spa beyond 2026, as both Zandvoort and Spa are considered ‘home races’ for Max Verstappen.
Zandvoort has undoubtedly delivered thrilling qualifying sessions and is a highly demanding circuit for drivers on a single lap, offering no room for error. However, it is objectively too much of a “rollercoaster” for modern F1 cars, despite the excellent work by the Italian firm Dromo in creating a sufficiently long DRS zone that has enabled overtaking at the iconic Tarzan corner.
