Nicolo Bulega takes a clean sweep at Phillip Island as he tops every session from Monday to Sunday.
Nicolo Bulega was a force to be reckoned with all week at Phillip Island. The Italian rider has topped every circuit at the Australian track across five days of track action.
He was fastest across the two test days on Monday and Tuesday, which he followed up across the race weekend on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. During which he completed his first World Superbike triple as he won Race One, the Superpole Race, and Race Two.
"I am really happy because this is my first hat trick in World Superbikes," Bulega said to WorldSBK.com.
"It is an incredibly amazing feeling to do it at my favourite track, now I want to go back home to celebrate.
"I feel very good, I feel very proud of what me and my team have done. My bike was perfect from the Monday Test until the last lap of Race Two. I was able to push every lap this week, and I enjoyed riding every lap."
During Race Two Bulega nearly threw away a clear victory as he nearly crashed at Turn Four.
"I braked a bit more at Turn Four," Bulega explained when asked about his near crash in Race Two.
"Then I touched my knee slider on the kerb that is taller than the asphalt. It moved my leg on the kerb, when I opened my leg I lost the front, and I almost crashed but I made a not bad save."
World Superbikes will not race for a month but when they return they will be at Portimao. After dominating Round One, Bulega believes he can be at the front again at Round Two.
"I am confident because last time in Portimao I was in second with a fever," he said.
"I think we can be competitive again, I think it will be not so easy because Toprak [Razgatlioglu] will be very fast at Portimao.
"I will try to maintain this level but I think it will be very difficult, but I will try."
