Hire Heroes USA, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering U.S. military members, veterans and military spouses to succeed in the civilian workforce, today announced a year-long partnership with NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Garrett Smithley.
Through this partnership, Smithley‘s #14 car will include a Hire Heroes USA-themed paint scheme during multiple NASCAR Xfinity Series races beginning with the season opener at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida.
"For nearly two decades, Hire Heroes USA has supported more than 100,000 service members, veterans and military spouses in finding civilian employment," said Ross Dickman, CEO of Hire Heroes USA. "Garrett‘s personal connection to the military makes him an ideal ambassador to help us raise awareness about our mission and increase our impact."
Smithley, a seasoned driver with a career spanning more than 15 years, began racing in 2007 in Bandolero cars, earning Rookie of the Year honors in 2008 at both Atlanta Motor Speedway and Lanier National Speedway. He advanced to Legends car racing and later competed in the ARCA Racing Series, the Craftsman Truck Series and the NASCAR Cup Series, achieving a career-best 21st-place finish in 2022. This year, Smithley is competing with SS-Green Light Racing based in Mooresville, North Carolina.
The partnership with Hire Heroes USA holds special significance for Smithley whose family has a history of military service.
"Both of my grandfathers are veterans, so this partnership is especially meaningful to me," said Smithley. "NASCAR fans are incredibly patriotic, and the sport is passionate about honoring and recognizing veterans. I‘m proud to represent Hire Heroes USA on the track and share their incredible mission."
