After four years away from racing, Andrea Iannone made his return to a World Championship in 2024. Iannone made his debut in the World Superbike Championship with Team GoEleven Ducati.
There were mixed feelings when Andrea Iannone was signed by Team GoEleven Ducati for the 2024 World Superbike campaign. The Italian had been sidelined due to a drugs ban for the last four years but proved he still had speed in his rookie World Superbike season.
In the past Iannone had been a race winner in MotoGP and a title contender in Moto2. However, he had never raced in a competitive Superbike Championship.
After racing in a Championship he did not know, on circuits, he had not been to before 'The Maniac' had a respectable comeback season.
In his first World Superbike race on his Ducati Panigale V4 R Iannone stood on the podium in Phillip Island. After four years away he finished his debut race in third using his knowledge of the Australian circuit.
Iannone took a race win in his rookie season as he won Race One in MotorLand Aragon, as well as a race win he stood on four other podiums throughout the year. Come the end of the year Iannone racked up 231 points and ended the year in eighth in the standings.
Next season Iannone will remain in the World Superbike Championship with Team Pata GoEleven. With more experience and more support from Ducati the Italian could challenge for higher Championship positions in 2025.
