2023-24 Toyota Corolla, Corolla Cross recalled in Australia

The fault could cause cracks to develop in the upper universal joint of the steering intermediate shaft assembly, according to the recall notice.
Toyota has recalled 1271 examples of its Corolla Cross, Corolla Cross Hybrid, Corolla Sedan Hybrid, Corolla Cross Hybrid, Corolla Cross Petrol, and Corolla Sedan Hybrid models, citing a potential fault with steering shaft.
The affected vehicles are stamped 2023 to 2024 models, but may have been sold at a later date.
The recall notice lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “Due to a manufacturing defect, cracks may develop in the upper universal joint of the steering intermediate shaft assembly. Over time, these cracks can widen due to repeated stress and can lead to a loss of steering control.”

Toyota Australia advises owners will be contacted to schedule an appointment to have the steering shaft replaced free of charge.
