The Blue Oval doesn’t even want Toyota owners to hand over their cars, but there are some key caveats.

Ford is trying to steal away sales from rival car maker Toyota, by offering $2000 off the cost of one of its most popular models.

In what's commonly known as a conquest cash incentive, the Blue Oval in the US is giving $US2000 ($2940) off for a Toyota owner willing to buy or lease a new Bronco SUV.

The 'Toyota Competitive Conquest Bonus Cash' started on 1 October and runs through to 2 January 2025, and is designed to lure loyal Toyota customers away and capture their business.

Crucially though, unlike in other cash grabs, Ford is not asking anyone to actually give up their Toyota to take advantage, and it doesn't only apply to a specific Toyota model – it can be anything as long as it's from 1995 or newer.

There are, however, some notable caveats – the deal is only on offer in a handful of cities across the US, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Phoenix, Atlanta and Orlando.

It's also not available on the range-topping Bronco Raptor.

For those in California, potential future Bronco owners can also maximise their financial benefit with a $1000 retail cash bonus, and opting for the 2023 model specifically can take another $6000 off.

It's not the first time Ford has gone after another brand, according to CarBuzz, with the car maker previously targeting rival models from Jeep and Subaru too.

And it has happened here in Australia too. In 2023, Mitsubishi offered $1000 off the cost of a new model for people trading in their old Holdens.
