The Victorian man was allegedly caught performing burnout with blue smoke emitting from the tyres, with police impounding his Holden Commodore as a result.

A 29-year-old Victorian man has been fined and set to be charged with multiple traffic offences, and is now without his car following his alleged involvement in a hooning incident during a gender reveal party.

Victoria Police said officers were called to the scene and “intercepted a driver allegedly performing burnouts with blue smoke coming from his tyres" along Frankston Gardens Drive in Carrum Downs – a suburb approximately 48km south-east of Melbourne – on 28 September 2024.

According to The Age, the hoon driver said he was the father celebrating his unborn baby boy, with Senior Sergeant Phil Hulley condemning the man's actions.

"You can see people, young children, at this event, and one would think this car would only have to spin out of control and could have the potential of seriously injuring or killing people," Sergeant Hulley told 3AW Breakfast.

Victoria Police are continuing to investigate the incident, with Sergeant Hulley stating, "There may be other people involved and engaging in similar behaviour prior to the blue smoke going up in the air.”

The Senior Sergeant said gender reveal burnouts "were becoming more common", with multiple videos of similar hooning events posted on social media platforms like Youtube and Instagram.

The 29-year-old Frankston North man had his Holden Commodore impounded, costing the hoon $1120.50.

In addition to losing his car, he is expected to be charged with multiple traffic offences.
