The technical department at Scuderia Ferrari will soon gain an important figure in the aerodynamic sector. During the past season, team principal Frederic Vasseur had asked for patience from those questioning the team’s technical improvements, citing the “gardening” period as a significant obstacle for those currently aiming to recruit experienced figures from other teams.
After Loic Serra, who has been operational in Maranello since October, the Frenchman Franck Sanchez will soon join to bolster the aerodynamic department headed by engineer Diego Tondi. Franck Sanchez will arrive at Ferrari after a three-year stint at Sauber, where he held the role of Chief Aerodynamicist, earning significant respect from his colleagues.
Franck Sanchez’s first Formula 1 experience dates back to 2002, when he began a long period in the aerodynamic department at Toyota. After the Japanese manufacturer’s withdrawal from Formula 1, Franck Sanchez spent a year at Marussia before moving to Toro Rosso, where he worked for nine seasons.
In 2021, the French engineer moved to Sauber, where he reached a managerial position. His transition to Maranello comes at a crucial moment when all teams will be tasked with managing their resources between developing the 2025 car and advancing the new 2026 project, which will require a lot of energy.
