In one of the biggest transfers in Formula 1 history, Lewis Hamilton signed a multi-year contract with Scuderia Ferrari for 2025, fulfilling a long-held dream. Piero Ferrari, son of the iconic founder Enzo Ferrari, recently revealed that the British driver had already visited Maranello over a decade ago, when he was racing for Mercedes.
Hamilton's first visit to Ferrari dates back to 2014, when he traveled to Maranello to purchase his Ferrari LaFerrari. On that occasion, he spent a lot of time in the museum and factory, studying how to customize his new jewel.

"It's true," confirmed Piero Ferrari in a recent interview with Autosprint. "Hamilton spent a lot of time here, and then, in the evening, I asked him if he wanted to stay for dinner with me. He was enthusiastic, and we talked about cars, but not only that. I discovered a truly pleasant and extraordinary person."
During dinner at the Cavallino restaurant, Piero and Lewis Hamilton discussed various topics, but surprisingly, visiting Ferrari's racing department was not a priority. "No, definitely not," Piero replied, laughing when asked if Hamilton had ever requested to visit the racing department. This meeting marked the beginning of a friendly relationship between the two, with Hamilton returning to Maranello several times to meet with commercial sector executives.
For Lewis Hamilton, wearing Ferrari's legendary red suit has always been a great aspiration. The chance to follow in the footsteps of champions like Alain Prost, Michael Schumacher, and Sebastian Vettel represents a defining moment in his career. On January 20, the driver visited Maranello as an official Scuderia driver, posing for photos next to his favorite car, the Ferrari F40, a symbol of power and style.
