2025 Lexus RX450h+ price announced: Plug-in hybrid finally coming to Australia
Yesterday at 12:37 AM
Lexus has finally opened orders for its second plug-in hybrid in Australia after a long wait, with prices starting from about $130,000 drive-away.
The 2025 Lexus RX plug-in hybrid (PHEV) is finally coming to Australia nearly three years after its global reveal, alongside tech updates for the rest of the model line-up.
The RX PHEV is due in Lexus Australia showrooms this April in a single, high-grade RX450h+ Sports Luxury model grade, priced from $123,500 plus on-road costs.
It costs $9900 more than an equivalent plug-less hybrid version, the RX350h Sports Luxury AWD ($113,600), but $4200 less than the top-of-the-range RX500h F Sport Performance ($127,700).
However, the PHEV is fitted as standard with features that form part of a $3900 option package on the RX350h Sports Luxury, reducing the price premium for plug-in capability to $6000.

The RX plug-in hybrid has been offered in overseas markets since the new-generation model was unveiled in mid-2022, but was not sold here as it was needed elsewhere to help the brand meet stricter emissions rules than those in force in Australia.
Since then, Australia has confirmed CO2 emissions rules of its own, which has combined with high demand for the smaller NX450h+ PHEV sold since 2022.
Powering the RX450h+ is a 2.5-litre non-turbo four-cylinder engine paired with front and rear electric motors, and an 18.1kWh battery pack to develop 227kW combined.
Lexus claims a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 6.5 seconds, and 68km of electric-only driving range in European WLTP testing. Its fuel tank shrinks to 55 litres from the regular hybrid’s 65L.
Fuel consumption in Australian lab testing is claimed as 1.3 litres per 100 kilometres, though it relies heavily on the battery pack.
Standard on the plug-in hybrid is the RX350h Sports Luxury’s $3900 Enhancement Pack 2, which adds a panoramic glass sunroof, digital rear-view mirror, and automatic parking.
Shared features include 21-inch alloy wheels, bi-LED headlights, semi-aniline leather upholstery, 10-way power-adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation, power-folding rear seats, a head-up display, and a 21-speaker Mark Levinson stereo.
Arriving alongside the plug-in hybrid are new features for the entire RX range, including a widescreen 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster replacing a smaller display between digitised fuel and temperature readouts.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both now wireless – rather than wired-only Android Auto and wireless CarPlay – plus new acoustic windscreen, front and rear-side window glass, and additional illumination for front-seat storage in the cabin.
Compared to last year’s prices, RRPs are up by $166 on the RX350h Sports Luxury AWD, $266 on the RX350h Luxury AWD and RX500h F Sport Performance, and $290 on all other models.
The 2025 Lexus RX450h+ is available to order now ahead of first showroom arrivals in April.
